Will Bud Selig Ever Put His Foot Down on Performance Enhancing Drugs?

Question by JayBee: Will Bud Selig ever put his foot down on performance enhancing drugs?
I do understand that the player’s union in the MLB is one of the toughest in all sports and it is near impossible to impose any kind of “tough” regulations.

Only a handful of mainly “no-names” have been busted with the policy put into place a few years ago – an exception being Palmero.

McGwire may have juiced, but it was prior to new policies – but this may still have an impact on his HOF bid – and maybe even the same with Sosa (corked bat doesn’t look good).

And then we have Bonds, who seems rather untouchable regarding anything relating to the juice…do you think Bonds’ record was accomplished legitimatley?

Is Bud Selig going to wait until Bonds retires to “get tough” on substance abuse in the MLB?

I LOVE baseball. It has always been my favorite sport – I live for it…although anymore I am saddened by all the “roids” hub-bub and I am kind of burnt out on it. What do other die hard fans think?

Thanks everyone!
quint: this is the EXACT reason I asked the question. the season is cooking up to be just phenom and I am kind of burnt on it being clouded by “roids” stories. goignto be a GREAT finish to a great season. I appreciate your input, as well as everyone elses. I can tell you guys love the game and not the politics!

Tragically, I don’t think so. The players union has a lot of power, and it seems like Bud just doesn’t have the backbone to even seem to want to resolve steroids. Unfortunately, it looks like that could possibly doom one of our greatest sports and pastimes.
