“The BIGGEST (Drug-) LOSER” Is the Biggest Winner.
“the BIGGEST (drug-) LOSER” is the biggest winner. – Patient has been taking Suboxone, 16 mg/day consistently for two years’ time without tapering. Here to have the weaning from Suboxone done “professionally”. Certainly that can be done in a medical office; however, tapering Suboxone (or other narcotic) is something that people could do on their own, when properly motivated. For instance the TV show “the Biggest Loser” has contestants who have been overweight for long periods of time; however, with the right motivation, the potential for a prize, every single person loses some weight. All of a sudden those contestants have a specific reward, context, and emotional support — all of which have changed their level of motivation, and this additional motivation brings about success in losing weight in each one. People wanting to “lose drugs” can learn something from this example of those “losing weight”: garner the emotional support and other rationales and realize the incredible rewards of sobriety, for many a simple financial one of not spending money on drugs. This of course requires some organizational skills, some of which people in this situation may lack. Some people can save much more than those TV contestants earn as rewards, just by avoiding illicit drug spending, and by greater concentration at work, both of which result from sobriety.
