Should We Have an Intervention or No?
Question by Zippie: Should we have an intervention or no?
My bro has recently had 2 seizures…once while high from weed and the other when on mushrooms. Doctors have told him that the drugs are causing the seizures because his mind is altered….but he has not stopped smoking weed. He is a huge advocate for it and feels that since he smokes regularly, the seizures must be because he is stressed out. My family is concerned that he will continue to have seizures and die if he does not stop. Do you think a family intervention would be a good idea? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you!

An intervention is a wonderful idea and really is simple. On TV they make it a big deal but really all you need is a group of family members that will participate in this invention. These people need to be close family and friends. They all need to write a letter about they are going to share with your brother. If the doctors are telling him he needs to stop using than he needs to stop and if he can”t on his own than what you are doing is the right thing. Remind him you all love and support him but if he doesn’t seek help ASAP, your family and his friends need to be able to 100% abandoned him and let him hit rock bottom as hard as it will be for your family to see.
Tips:
DON’T TELL HIM ABOUT THE INTERVENTION!!!!
Plan it somewhere he has been before so he is comfortable.
One person needs to be the person in charge of distratcing the addit and bring the them to the intervention place.
Have a treatment facility or treatment plan in place prior to the intervention,
Don’t use violance, if your brother gets upset and wants to leave let him, but do hold him back or try to picka fight with him. Dont let his ride give him a ride home, if he doesn’t even try than he MUST BE CUT OFF.
Addiction is an illiness with no cure but with treatment can be managed effectivly.
I wish you and your family the best of luck!
