Bi-Polar Unable to Function?
Question by seven: bi-polar unable to function?
i was diagnosed bi-polar at the age of 16. They told me to take medication otherwise the condition would get worse. I am now 24 and am experiencing a very hard time suriving, and taking care of myself. I am intelligent but struggle. I feel like im two different people trapped into one. I havnet been able to keep a job or a relationship for more than several months. People often point out that i appear to be 2 different people. I refuse medication because it made me so sick. I dont know what to do anymore, my social life, my financial life, my career have all hit rock bottom. I cant seem to complete anything. Im a beliver in God, i exercise, fairly healthy, just cant seem to get a grip. What do i do. Do i file for disability?, is there new treatment available?, i dont have insurance so its like im hopelessly stuck in this mud puddle. I dont know what to do. I feel tormented. should i start drinking….i have never been a big drinker, think it would work? I struggled with Drug abuse for years trying to balance my mood and emotions, it worked for a long time but then left me feeling worse than before. I cleaned up, im sober, and fairly sound, but still experience haunting thoughts, and bizarre emotions, of suicide, and then the next minute, thoughts of greatness.
Im not hear to discuss what i am and what im not. Im looking for an answer to relieve my suffering, my soul may be saved, but my mind is hurt. Any positive advice would be helpful. thanks.

hi i am also bi-polar with hypo mania. first thing i want to say is i understand. its like having 2 personality’s and having no control is not easy. i like you messed with drugs but it just makes it worse in the end. i live in london England and here i am classed as disabled so its worth a try you may get help with medical expenses. there are 2 main treatments for it(no cure) i think you should strongly reconsider trying again. the side affects don’t last long and in my Option its better that not knowing. have you tried CBT therapy it can help you deal with the mood changes a bit. good luck. pls remember you are not alone and you can live with this.

Have you tried lithium? It’s dirt cheap and actually treats bipolar. You just need to find the correct dosage for it to be most effective.
You’re way ahead of a lot of people affected with bipolar because you realize you have it at a very young age. You can treat it and do well. A lot of people are in complete denial their whole life.
